A Dream Within A Dream

Image
Edgar Allan Poe was a brilliant mind, and today, writing this post, I fancy nothing else than a little poetry and some dreams of winter... Take this kiss upon the brow! And, in parting from you now, Thus much let me avow- You are not wrong, who deem That my days have been a dream; Yet if hope has flown away In a night, or in a day, In a vision, or in none, Is it therefore the less gone? All that we see or seem Is but a dream within a dream. I stand amid the roar Of a surf-tormented shore, And I hold within my hand Grains of the golden sand- How few! yet how they creep Through my fingers to the deep, While I weep- while I weep! O God! can I not grasp Them with a tighter clasp? O God! can I not save One from the pitiless wave? Is all that we see or seem But a dream within a dream?                                           ...

The First Snow

Image
Oh what a frantic last month has been... For an indecisive girl like me, I’m always between places, switching between favourites and swapping preferences like scarves. Bucharest used to make me miss London, but now London makes me miss Bucharest. However, I cannot help but congratulate myself on this sudden pause where I feel no need to run away but simply, stay. Then I read this back and fear I’m writing in riddles, which makes sense I suppose, as my emotions are an endless labyrinth.  One morning back home, I had the chance to take these lovely winter wonderland shots. Bright and early that morning, we were able to see the untouched thick layer of snow along the park that had decorated the city overnight. The sky was clear and blue, the winter sun was mild and warm. Gelid drops of dew were falling on the green turfs looking as beautiful as pearls.  I was so happy to see the snow after such a long time.  It started indeed to feel a little bit chilly, but I did...

Bowie - a hero not just for one day

Image
A boundary breaker, a true artist, David Bowie's presence filled up the world with magical glitter dust.  Everyone loved Bowie because you knew if it was alright for him to be David Bowie, it was just fine to be your true self.  He represented everything loving, accepting and different about the world..now it all just feels so empty... © Thuany Gabriela/Flickr I've never been the sort of person who mourns after the deceased. No matter how close they were to me or my family. I am among those who are most free from this emotion. It usually resulted in utter shock. This was mainly because the force of extreme sadness inevitably stunned the whole of my soul, impeding its freedom of action. It happens to us when we are suddenly struck with alarm by some extremely bad news; as one of the writers most dear to me, Michel de Montaigne would put it,  "we are enraptured, paralysed in all our movements in such a way that, afterwards, when the soul lets itself go with lam...

How To Wear Black Without Looking Boring

Image
Black always looked so edgy and mysterious. You can never go wrong with an all-black ensemble which lends itself nicely to a downtown look. The beauty of black? You can mix textures without the fear of creating an overly busy outfit. Here I blended fringe, leather, silk and suede in one uber chic outfit. To jazz up the look, I chose a starry print as well. And there you have an ideal way to add a dose of cool to your monochrome outfit. Cashmere, cinnamon, the smell of freshly baked cookies. I love December.. so cosy and fragrant. I go back to childhood and relive the ritual of decorating the Christmas tree with my mom, while grandma was making gingerbread and my dad building snowmen. I always get excited at the thought of arranging the table, decorating the house and buying presents. And what else would anyone need for a perfect Christmas, other than your family and a lovely setting. So here it is, a fabulous gift guide, along with other pretty ideas which I hope you will enjoy at least as much as I did while preparing it. xx Shop the gift guide:  Elie Beaumont watch Fever Collection body Clara Olivia  bra (15% off with code PIXIE15) Diesel sunglasses from TK MAXX Snake bracelet from here Essie nail polish in a cut above Lancôme La vie est belle  perfume & body lotion The Body Shop bronzing powder The Body Shop shimmering dry oil Chansons pour elle et a...

In the Mood for Red

Image
This fall season has been both pretty unpredictable and surprisingly mild! A mild fall and now a mild winter (although I am sure it won't be so for much longer) means more exploring of the city, and that's always the most delightful thing. And being able to sit down outside during this time of the year is undeniably wonderful. Maybe I'll slow down as I run my errands just to enjoy the refreshing chill that I don't need to hide from. My steps far slower than usual so that I can notice the tiny garden hidden on the corner. A secret hideaway of sorts where the noise from the streets seemed muffled by its quiet beauty. No jacket required. No worries required. Just shades of red from my accessories and chestnut-colored leaves. #LFW Day 3

Image
WEARING:  Stradivarius  suede fringed jacket , H&M white T-shirt , Ray Ban sunglasses , vintage scarf,  Topshop flared jeans , Primark clogs. *** On day three of London Fashion Week I was already getting such a buzz from watching all those models in fabulous outfits...I wanted to jump on the catwalk with them, and of course wear the amazing dresses I was falling in love with.. ha ha! The first show I went to was YII, followed by Niro Wang and Mimpikita; however my favourites were Teresita Orillac and of course, the one and only Kristian Aadnevik. After the first three presentations - considering the time gap between those and the last two - I pretty much spent the rest of the day having a good ol' chat with my favourites Adela and Damaris from TheGoalDiggers , catching up over coffee and yummy Italian food. Carrying on with my latest 70's obsession, I chose a brown suede jacket, flared jeans and a pair of clogs. My feet ...
