Women Fashion Power

Image
*** It is no coincidence that dress and success rhyme. Or maybe it is, however, but it's indisputable that the two have always gone hand-in-smartly-gloved-hand. Even colour has, traditionally, the ability to incite power, with all but the upper levels banned from sporting purple under Elizabeth I, while Paris Hilton insists nothing is more empowering than, um, a tiara. But our fore-mothers fought for more roles for women than varying degrees of princess - which is, of course what this month was all about: a celebration of women all around the world, and what they have achieved. Which made me all the more interested in the Design Museum's Women Fashion Power exhibition: a look at how influential women over the ages have used fashion as a visual language, to define and enhance their positions. Alongside the sartorial stars, the exhibition showcases outfits of powerful women in the spheres of business and fashion, as well as politics and culture - a celebration of ...

Seasonal Glow

Image
We see each season as a chance to try something new. We consider cashmere to be the best thing about falling temperatures. We love sequined heels as much as ankle boots. We think finding "the one" refers to that perfect trench coat. We make his pieces ours with a bit of finesse and a healthy dose of sparkle. We believe it's possible to reinvent yourself every single time you get dressed. ☆ Here's to a season of new beginnings. ☆ I was wearing: Vintage YSL Emerald Silk Blouse (Similar Here , Here & Here ) /  StyleLondon  Silk Skirt /  Zara  leather ankle boots /  White Pearls (Similar Here ). Cosmo Blog Awards

Image
Hello, my darlings. As most of you may already know, I was lucky enough to be shortlisted for the Best New Fashion Blog Award sponsored by Next at the Cosmopolitan Blog Awards. So on Tuesday I made my way over to the OXO Tower in London for the Blog Awards Bash to find out who the winners were. I put my brave face on and with a glass of bubbles in my hand, I went to introduce myself to some friendly looking bloggers. I met a lot of lovely people and after about an hour and a half of mingling, all of the bloggers gathered at one end of the room to hear the results we had all been waiting for. Even though my blog didn't win, I have no other reason but to be happy and proud that Journaux Des Fetichismes is in the top 10 (out of 46,000 applicants..yep, you read that right haha) Best New Fashion Blogs. My mind reminded me that my blog is barely a year old and that it's only the beginning.  With the adorable  Monica The rest of the evening was spent drinki...

Scarlet Rage Vintage Shop Party

Image
Scarlet Rage Vintage  has established itself as a favourite for one of London’s best vintage shops, with an excellent selection of womenswear from the Twenties to the late Sixties. Both outlets – one in Crouch End, the other at Camden Market – are constantly receiving new stock. Shop owner Jade Stavri has recently opened the shop in Camden’s Stables Market with a lovely launch party. I decided to pop down to the shop to meet the event host, lovely Vanessa Frankenstein and enjoy all the amazing vintage pieces. As soon as you walk into the shop you notice all the clothes are beautifully displayed and clean, ironed and not stuffed into overfull rails. They range from Fifties prom dresses, leopard-print swing coats and gypsy blouses to Thirties & Forties silk dresses or early Sixties lace maxis. Walking past all these, at the far end of the market the bright lipstick red and twinkling lights of Scarlet Rage Vintage greeted me.  It was definitely a night...
